Faculty’s Perception at University of Jeddah of The Design Elements of the Wall – Padlet- to Develop English Writing Skills
Abstract
Interactive, collaborative walls, as one of the web educational networking tools, have been increasingly integrated into second language instruction to promote collaborative writing. The purpose of this study was to determine the design elements of the interactive, collaborative wall (Padlet) from the viewpoint of faculty members at the University of Jeddah to develop English language writing skills. All the technical and strategic design elements related to this wall were identified, then the researcher followed the quantitative approach through the questionnaire that was distributed to the faculty members of the University of Jeddah who represent the study sample, and 60 responses were obtained. Data was processed using statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis was applied, and through it, the mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentages, response score, and ranks were calculated. The study expected a positive relationship between the design elements of the wall Padlet and the development of English language writing skills. The results revealed high and very high responses to the questionnaire items, indicating that faculty members emphasized the elements that define the shape of the wall in a way that benefits students and develops a spirit of interaction and participation among them, and at the same time contributes to providing assistance to faculty members to design and display the wall in the best possible way to develop English writing skills in particular.
