The Role of Government Policies in Reducing Traffic Accidents

Abstract
This study aimed to identify the impact of government policies in reducing traffic accidents, by clarifying the effectiveness and adequacy of government policies to reduce traffic accidents, In addition to the extent of coordination between the competent authorities in the field of traffic accident reduction. The descriptive analytical approach was followed quantitatively and qualitatively, the purposive sample was used for interviews, so four interviews were conducted with four target institutions, In addition to using the easy sample in conducting an electronic questionnaire, It was answered by 130 people, to determine the extent of citizens' satisfaction with the government policies adopted to reduce traffic accidents. In addition to these tools, the content analysis method was used to find out what government policies are used to reduce traffic accidents. The results of the study showed that the effectiveness of policies in reducing traffic accidents is low by 58, However, the government's adequacy in limiting traffic was a medium degree, at 61%, While it was found that there is coordination between the competent authorities to a high degree, at a rate of 82%, Finally, the degree of citizens' satisfaction with the policies was medium, at 3.33%. The study highlighted the need to work on developing existing legislation and laws in line with the development taking place in new types of vehicles, the transport sector and traffic safety.
