Criteria for Selecting Coaches in Professional Football Clubs in Palestine from the Perspective of Administrators and Specialists

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the most important criteria for selecting coaches in professional football clubs in Palestine from the viewpoint of club administrators and football specialists. The researcher employed a descriptive survey methodology and used a questionnaire as a data collection tool. The sample size consisted of 56 participants, including club administrators and football specialists such as university lecturers, media professionals, sports critics, and former coaches. The results indicated statistically significant differences at the (0.05≤ α) level in the estimates of the sample regarding the criteria for selecting coaches in professional clubs based on variables such as experience, educational qualifications, and personal attributes. Furthermore, the study revealed that the factors of technical, social, personal, and economic aspects significantly influence the selection of a good coach in professional clubs, whereas the psychological factor did not show any impact on the selection process. The researcher recommended that the selection of coaches in professional clubs should be based on scientific principles, avoiding personal biases, and that coaches should be given sufficient opportunity to demonstrate their talents and capabilities.
