Spatial Analysis of Forced Migration to the Provinces of the Middle Euphrates for the Period 2003-2016
Abstract
One of the patterns of spatial movement is called migration, which is moving from one place to another without regard to the distance traveled, and classifying migration into several types, the most important of which is forced migration.
Iraqi society has witnessed in recent years a population migration in many of its governorates due to political and security instability, and this has many implications in many areas, including political, economic, security and social, which requires the development of a successful strategy by the government to confront this problem.
The study aims to uncover the movement of forced immigration to the provinces of the Middle Euphrates for the period (2003-2016) and to know the size of the difference between those governorates as well as the difference at the governorate level. The researcher used the descriptive and analytical approach, and the research found that Najaf comes first in terms of number Forced arrivals to it and then come Karbala Governorate, while the most forcibly displaced population is Nineveh Governorate, then Anbar Governorate comes after. One of the main main causes of forced migration in the central Euphrates governorates was sectarian violence and military operations in the areas of origin.
