الملخص

The current study investigated the quality of life among Saudi families during the COVID-19 pandemic. A descriptive survey approach was employed, wherein a family quality of life questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample of 274 Saudi citizens in the Qassim region. The study examined significant differences in family quality of life across four dimensions: (A) health and physical, (B) emotional and psychological, (C) family and social relations, and (D) quality of education and study of children. These dimensions were analyzed based on demographic variables, including parents' age, educational levels, employment status, number of family members, family income, and area of residence. The collected data illustrated that the quality of life of Saudi families during the COVID-19 pandemic was at an average level. The highest reported quality was in the health and physical aspect (A), followed by the emotional and psychological aspect (B). Family and social relations (C) ranked third, followed by the quality of education and study of children (D). Furthermore, the overall family quality of life for parents aged 40 years and above was significantly better than for those aged 30–40 or under 30 years. Additionally, the quality of children's education and study did not differ significantly according to the wife's education, parents' employment, number of children, region of residence, or the husband's education. However, a significant difference emerged in the emotional and psychological quality of life in favor of families where the husband held a university degree or higher. In conclusion, higher educational attainment appears to be a protective factor, and better education is recommended to support all aspects of family life during crises.
